Alchemy is more than transmuting the past.

Much of the time when people think of alchemy the focus is on how they can process their past to relieve themselves of their burdens. But this is only an aspect of the magical world of alchemy. For most people, we use the past to create our future. We learn from our experiences and use that knowledge to make decisions to create our reality. However, this means that the programming and the learned behaviors of the past that may not be serving us are ultimately creating our future as well. This is what makes alchemy so important. It’s not just about creating more peace within ourselves, but it also alters and transforms the direction our lives take.

Many people burden themselves with the need to plan for the future. It gives them something to look forward to, it gives them a direction to go in, and it provides them with a sense of security knowing where their life is headed. However, the downside to planning, and focusing so much on the future, is the amount of anxiety we live with while doing so. There’s only so much that’s within our control, and people that plan do so in order to prepare themselves for the unforeseeable. They hope to control what happens by forecasting their future and focusing on planning, but that’s not conducive.

Is planning a reasonable endeavor? Sure, I’m not saying we should throw caution to the wind, but if you’ve been working on reducing your limited beliefs, it’s possible to not have to plan at all. We are powerful creators. We create the reality that lies before us. The only issue that arises is from the fact that most of us are deeply unaware of the programming that we carry that’s creating our reality. We are creating all the time, in every moment. Just because you haven’t started alchemizing your experience, doesn’t mean you aren’t creating your reality. You still are. Alchemy is about transforming our understanding, so then we can use new perspectives to create the reality we desire and not create from an unconscious place.

This unconscious creation is what’s making our lives miserable. Our expectations and beliefs are what’s driving us to make the choices we make and the decisions that reinforce them. Every choice has a consequence, whether it’s a desired or undesired consequence is up to us. We choose how we treat people, and whether you decide to harass someone or be kind will offer you a multitude of differing outcomes. This is what it means that our universe is unlimited. The potential choices to be made are also unlimited. But we choose to limit ourselves to a handful of options due to our limited understanding.

This isn’t to say that a person should know everything, so that they can prepare for all outcomes and choices. That’s what living in a society with many people can offer us. Their perspectives offer us new ideas and options we hadn’t considered. And when we stop demonizing each other for our differences, we’ll be able to create and grow in harmony.

Regardless, our lives are only lived within the present. We can plan all day, but it doesn’t change the fact that those plans may never come to fruition. Our existence lives in the now moment. And now, and now! It continues to exist even as you read this. The moment is now within the present. But when we exist from the past we’re always a half-step behind the present. The present moment is a blank canvas, but when we remain creating from our past, there’s already a smear of paint obstructing our view. We can’t see the moment as clearly as if we weren’t so attached to the past.

Previously, I had discussed the importance of our intuition, and how it serves us as an additional sense to evaluate the world. We needn’t rely solely on our preconceived ideas and the limited perspective our brains can offer us, we can listen to the advanced guidance and formulate new understandings.

Much of my journey has been spent learning to trust myself and my intuition. I used to drive around the city towards parts I was unfamiliar with - please, don’t attempt this if it could pose a danger to yourself. Most of the time these areas were more rural, and I would drive down the backroads looking at the scenery and getting lost. I’d have no idea where I was or how to get back. I hadn’t developed an internal sense of direction like many people in other countries have, either. These became opportunities for me where I had to learn to rely on my intuition. I learned the sound and the cadence of it, mostly from all the mistakes I made. I’d hear something, clairaudiently, and I would rely on that for my direction. But there were times where I’d get too lost in the fear of not knowing where I was, and the “voice” would change to my ego.

It’s difficult to know the difference when you’re first starting out. But when we begin to become afraid, a lot of the time we fall back onto ourselves and the programming, instead of our intuition. Alchemy is important in raising our frequencies. It helps us remove ourselves from the lower frequencies of fear and rise to the ones closer to love: the maximum frequency, the frequency of connection. As I was out driving, there would be miraculous moments where I’d find the highway I needed to get home, or a gas station that I didn’t know was there. It was divine and inspiring. But it wasn’t easy to trust. I failed a lot. I would get frustrated and use my navigation to find my way back, then feel upset that I wasn’t able to trust enough to find my way.

Letting go of the old ways is not easy. It’s a slow road, but if you continue to try and put in the effort, your life will change in miraculous ways. We can change how we create our future, but it’s up to us to start the process now. Our existence flows within time, unlike other dimensions. It’s understandable to view the world through this lens. But when you can understand that the way you’re creating your future starts with where your focus lies - whether in the past, the present alongside your intuition, or through your hopes of the future - your entire life will change.
